New York Empire Selects Maria Sanchez
With their second pick in the 2017 Mylan World TennisTeam Draft, the New York Empire selected Maria Sanchez.
Sanchez, 27, turned pro in 2012 where she has been rising the ranks in Women’s Doubles steadily ever since. In January 2014, she secured her first WTA title, a Women’s Doubles victory at the ASB Classic. In addition, Sanchez has notched 16 ITF titles throughout her career.
Before turning pro, she played collegiate tennis at the University of Southern California for the Trojans. She was a three-time All-American in singles and doubles and was the number one ranked collegiate player during the 2011-2012 season.
